Getting Started in Oils: Essential Lessons for Confident Painting

Oil paint has been the medium of choice for artists since the 15th century. Treasured for its luminosity, vibrant color, and slow drying time, oil paint can seem intimidating to new and experienced artists alike. Whether you're a first-time painter in oils or you're looking for a refresher in the fundamentals, this course will provide a solid foundation in oil painting techniques.

In this series of six live video workshops, professional artist and teacher Scott Maier will walk you through the oil-painting process from start to finish. You can come along for the complete course, or create an à la carte schedule with just the sessions you want! From essential brush techniques, planning your composition, and mixing colors to the final details that give your painting that finishing touch, your confidence will grow with each session. Join us for this unique opportunity to learn from a seasoned, professional artist and experience the joys of oil painting, all from the comfort of your own home studio.

Scott Maier brings more than 20 years of experience as a working artist and teacher to his classes. With this series of six live video workshops, you can ask questions and get answers in real time.
