From Control to Confidence: Painting Watercolor Portraits That Resonate
with Lorraine Simonds
Beginning January 31st this four-part series takes you on a transformational journey through the essential techniques of watercolor portraiture, while exploring the profound differences in how we capture faces across the human lifespan. You'll learn not only the technical skills – water control, luminosity, bold expression – but also how to observe and honor the anatomical shifts that happen with age, from the soft curves of childhood to the character etched in mature faces.
Watercolor artists Lorraine Simonds will share how she weaves story and emotion into every brushstroke, what she looks for when choosing a moment to paint, and how understanding human relationships deepens the portraits we create. This series builds both technical mastery and the confidence to paint with authentic emotional resonance, helping you discover your unique voice in capturing the essence of the people you love.

In this series of workshops, geared to any skill level, Anne Kindl will show you how to elevate expression in your floral paintings by using the power of journaling to deepen your connections with nature; by adding luminosity with glowing underpainting techniques; by creating color harmony with visually engaging color palettes; and by embracing intuitive mark-making to generate energy and movement. Whether you already know and love pastel, or you're a newcomer to the medium, you'll be inspired by its potential for bold and beautiful color, making make it the perfect match for painting florals.
Live virtual classes will take place from 1:00 to 3:00 pm ET on the 4th Saturday of the month September through December. Recordings of these sessions will be available on demand until January 31, 2026.
A Fresh Approach to Watercolor:
How to Loosen Up and Create Paintings with Energy and Mood
with Ron Stocke
In this new series with award-winning watercolor artist Ron Stocke, you'll learn how to focus on the elements that can help you loosen up your painting style and create a greater sense of mood. Ron will share many of the techniques that he has shaped and reshaped over the years to create his unique painting style, and reinforce some of the tried and true fundamentals that we often forget. Ron will also share important product information that he has picked up over three decades of working with the art materials industry—and pass on some tips for avoiding bad art habits. Join Ron for any or all four of these inspiring and informative painting sessions to expand your knowledge and enhance your skills in the magical medium of watercolor!
Live virtual classes will take place from 1:00 to 3:00 pm ET on one Thursday each month from October 2025 through January 2026.
Recordings of these sessions will be available on demand until 30 days after the last workshop in the series.
